TREE OF LIFE-REACH FOR THE HEAVENS
One of America’s most celebrated artists, Louis Comfort Tiffany revolutionized the production of stained glass and incorporated it into innovative designs and unusual decorative items. Tiffany believed that nature should be the main source of design inspiration and the vast majority of his pieces feature images of landscapes, plants, or animals. Tiffany’s love of nature and his drive to incorporate new technologies into his work closely aligned him with Art Nouveau and he was very significant in introducing the movement to America, helping to popularize it through his designs and encouraging others to work in a similar style.
Our inspiration for this particular pair comes from Tiffany’s painting Tree of Life. With branches stretching heavenward, the tree symbolizes eternal life. Tiffany, a nature lover, frequently used trees in his scenes. Tiffany, himself, wrote, “The soft meadows from which the tree has its birth, represents the earliest stages of life,” which captures the spirit of his creation. Wear it to feel motivated at all times.
Our Tree of Life is the unfolding of Art Nouveau’s flowing to be understood as a symbol of growth and progressiveness. Remember you have to reach for the heavens!
